Kieran Maguire tells Rangers 'now is the time to buy' as they have 'big advantage' over English rivals

Rangers have the edge over English Football League clubs in the transfer market.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively about Rangers’ prospects in the current transfer window.

Maguire claims that the Scottish Premiership champions have a financial advantage over EFL clubs and should look to raid the divisions for targets this summer.

Ethan Robson was one such target in January and, as revealed by Football Insider on 9th June, he has been given the green light by Blackpool to seek a loan move this summer.

The likes of Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris and Siriki Dembele have attracted Rangers’ interest too.

Maguire claimed that the Ibrox club’s Champions League status is also a big draw when it comes to making new signings.

“Rangers have two things to offer that EFL clubs can’t,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“The first is that they are playing in front of 47,000 people every week.

“They’ve also got the chance to play in the group stages of the Champions League. That gives players a financial incentive.

“It also the opportunity to play at the highest level in an individual country and also in Europe’s premier competition.

“That will certainly give them an edge. They can now compete financially with the biggest clubs in the Championship.

“I think clubs in the Championship have suffered disproportionately due to the pandemic because of the nature of the business model.

“So now is the right time to buy if you’re Rangers because you imagine they’d have quite a big advantage.”

Rangers will enter next season’s Champions League at the penultimate qualifying round.

The first leg of their initial tie is set to take place on 3rd August.
