Rangers in talks to agree Lyall Cameron pre-contract – sources
Rangers have held talks with Dundee star Lyall Cameron over a pre-contract agreement, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Rangers are keen to get a deal over the line ahead of the summer rather than in the closing stages of the January window.
The 22-year-old has just six months remaining on his contract at Dens Park and will be allowed to move on a free transfer in July.
This was seen in a similar deal to sign Connor Barron from Aberdeen last summer, with the club continuing their plans to attract young Scottish talent to Ibrox.
Now, the Dons have now joined Rangers in the race for Cameron’s signature and are looking to pip their rivals to the deal.
Rangers pushing to agree Lyall Cameron pre-contract deal
Cameron has made 29 appearances for Dundee across all competitions so far this season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists from midfield.
It has been a real breakthrough campaign for the 22-year-old in the Premiership despite having been a regular in the side since the 2022-23 Scottish Championship season.
The midfielder made his first-team debut as a 16-year-old in 2019 after coming through the academy at Dens Park, and they are keen to keep him beyond this season.
However, with just six months remaining on his contract, Rangers have stepped up their efforts to convince him to reject any offers to renew his deal in favour of a move to Ibrox.

Cameron’s impressive league season so far has attracted a number of interested clubs and there is a growing feeling he will leave Dundee come the summer.
In other news, Rangers plan to accept reasonable offers for Cyriel Dessers.
