Rangers news: Medical expert explains ‘massive gamble’ after Aaron Ramsey latest

Aaron Ramsey may be ramping up his bid for fitness because he has one eye on a move elsewhere once his Rangers loan deal is over.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Ramsey, 31, joined the Scottish champions from Juventus on deadline day but is struggling to make an impact as his injury concerns continue.

Rangers

He has was an unused substitute for the 1-0 win over Aberdeen last Saturday (5 March) but has now not featured for almost three weeks.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed yesterday that he will be in the squad for tonight’s (10 March) clash against Red Star Belgrade but will not start.

Per the Scottish Sun last Thursday (3 March), the Welshman has flown in his own specialist physios at a cost of £30,000 to aid his bid for fitness.

Dinnery claims that a permanent move for Ramsey would be a “massive gamble” for Rangers and the player may be hedging his bets.

“It’s certainly not uncommon to bring your own people in,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“He is a big-name player and wants to hit the ground running. He wants to earn a move, whether that is at Rangers or somewhere else.

“Bringing the physios over is an investment in yourself, a demonstration of your focus and desire to impress.

“It also shows that when he is back, he will do everything to ensure his availability is high. You just hope that he and the club will reap the rewards.

“He’s in the shop window. It’s a massive gamble for Rangers. They need to be sure about him.

“If it isn’t the right move for him, he needs to demonstrate to other clubs that he is doing everything he can to mitigate further setbacks.”

Ramsey has managed just four appearances since he arrived in Glasgow.
