Update on Rangers signing lifelong Ger who Boyd claims can stop Celtic 10-in-row - Sources
Kenny McLean has revealed interest in the past from Rangers and the possibility of re-signing for his boyhood club.
But nothing materialised and that is likely to be the case again this summer even though Norwich City’s Premier League relegation has seemingly opened the door to a stunning Ibrox swoop.
The midfielder was named by former Ibrox striker and title winner Kris Boyd in the Sun as one of three realistic summer Gers targets who could end Celtic’s pursuit of 10-in-a-row in the upcoming season.
However, McLean signed a lucrative Norwich contract after they got promoted last summer that has taken him to a high salary bracket.
Even more significantly, Norwich manager Daniel Farke has spoken gushingly of the left-footed midfielder’s talents and claimed he has taken his game to a new level this season.
He told the Sunday Times McLean is “unbelievably important”, “probably our most complete and dynamic midfielder” and “is irreplaceable for us”.

A agent with knowledge of Canaries’ recruitment operation told Football Insider that McLean is likely to remain at Carrow Road next season and spearhead the club’s bid for an instant Premier League.
McLean, 28, was in the Rangers youth set-up in his teens but left without playing a senior game.
He subsequently made his name at St Mirren before taking his game to a new level at Aberdeen, where he earned his first Scotland cap.
McLean signed for Norwich in January 2018 and played a key role in their Championship title-winning campaign last season before being a virtual ever-present in the Premier League.
The 10-times international has made 31 Premier League starts among 41 appearances in all competitions for Norwich this season.
Boyd named McLean as one of three possible Rangers targets along with Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson and Derby County’s Graeme Shinnie.
