Rangers fans have got themselves excited over the prospect of re-signing former captain Steven Davis after it was rumoured on social media there had been contact with the midfielder.
RockSport presenter Bill Young claimed there were “rumours” suggesting talks had taken place on his personal Twitter account, leading to Gers fans to demand the club re-sign the Premier League midfielder from Southampton.
Rumours that Rangers have had talks with Steven Davis on a return to Ibrox in the summer but Murty preferring to look to the younger end of the market.

Davis spent four years at Ibrox and quickly became a fan favourite with his consistently high quality performances but at 33, the Gers should only really look at Davis if another Premier League midfielder is unavailable – Crystal Palace’s James McArthur.
McArthur’s Palace contract is up in the summer meaning he wouldn’t cost the Gers a fee and at “only” 30 would offer the Light Blues a bit more longevity than Davis would.
Central midfield is an area the Gers are pretty heavy on bodies on currently but with the likes of Niko Kranjcar, Sean Goss and maybe even Andy Halliday and Jason Holt unlikely to still be at Ibrox next season, there will be a need to bring in a bit more quality in the middle of the park.
Either Scotland international McArthur or Davis would immediately become one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership but if push comes to shove, the Gers should move for the former Hamilton star over a swoop to bring Davis back to Ibrox.
