Rangers must bite bullet and cash in on first-team star in summer

COMMENT

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was the subject of big money bids from Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe in the January transfer window – and if they return in the summer then the Gers should bit the bullet and sell the striker.

Morelos has hit the net 17 times this season but was targeted by the Chinese with bids of as much as £9million, according to the Scottish Sun, and that money could make a huge difference in strengthening the Light Blues squad.

After falling ten points behind bitter rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, it’s clear there are areas of the Gers squad which need strengthened and cashing in on Morelos would allow the Gers to do that.

Director of football Mark Allen will be hoping the Colombian can win a surprise call to his national team squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia and add a few million more on to the 21-year-old’s price tag.

In an ideal world, the Gers would keep a hold of Morelos for a few more years and make an astronomical sum selling him in a few years time but with the way things are looking for them at the minute, selling Morelos and bringing in three or four quality additions is a no brainer for the Ibrox giants.
