Rangers news: Campbell ‘100 per cent’ sure on Kemar Roofe after interview reveal

Kevin Campbell is adamant Rangers striker Kemar Roofe can have a say on the title race this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton forward is “100 per cent” sure there is “a lot more to come” from the 29-year-old.

Roofe scored a 50-minute hat-trick on Sunday in a 4-0 win over St. Mirren.

Speaking to Rangers TV after the win (10 April), the centre-forward said there is “still more to come” from him and suggested it would come with “match fitness.”

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has given Roofe the nod to lead the line in the absence of the injured Alfredo Morelos.

When asked by Football Insider if there was more to come from Roofe, Campbell said: “100 per cent there is.

“There is a lot more to come from him. I’m a fan or Kemar Roofe. I think he’s a really good player.

“It was an important few goals from him at the weekend to keep Rangers within touching distance. Celtic have responded so well this season. They have been the form team. They have put together quite the squad there.

“Roofe is the type of player Rangers need to step up between now and the end of the season if they’re to close the gap. He’s a good enough player to have an impact on this title race. They need him.

“It is difficult when Morelos is your main man. Roofe has taken his opportunity though. Nothing better than a hat-trick.”
