Rangers next manager: O’Rourke reveals Philippe Clement sack date
Rangers boss Philippe Clement is set to stay in his post until next month’s Scottish League Cup final against Celtic, sources have told Football Insider.
The showpiece final at Hampden Park kicks off on 15 December with new chief executive officer Patrick Stewart, formerly of Man United, joining the club on the following day.
It is believed a decision on Clement’s future could come after the meeting with Celtic as pressure ramps up on the Belgian at Ibrox.
He escaped yet another loss in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday (23 November) with Vaclav Cerny’s second half equaliser rescuing a point at home against Dundee United.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (25 November) that Rangers will not make an immediate decision on sacking manager Clement despite him dropping yet more points to Celtic.
Nevertheless, pressure is ramping up on the 50-year-old after a disastrous start to the 2024-25 campaign.
Clement has been linked with the Belgium national team job in recent days with Dominic Tedesco’s position under threat.
Clement decision could come after Stewart arrival at Rangers
He signed a new four-year deal at Ibrox in the off-season after arriving in October 2023 and winning the Scottish League Cup shortly afterwards.
The ex-Monaco boss has the chance to repeat that feat this season but embarrassment against Celtic at Hampden could see his Rangers reign cut short.

His side are already 11 points adrift of their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers are next in action against Nice in the Europa League, where they are well-placed to progress to a knockout playoff in the new year.
