Rangers on red alert as Silas Andersen set for summer move, BK Hacken transfer ‘plan’ revealed

Rangers are set to be presented with the perfect chance to finally sign BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen this summer.

The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old but saw their efforts quashed in January, with the starlet then penning a new deal with the Swedish side.

However, it has now become clear that Andersen’s new contract was mainly agreed just to provide further financial security for his club, as he is still set to move on to a new challenge this summer.

Danny Rohl and Co. have been battling Celtic and, more recently, Wolves in the race to secure his signature, and the door finally looks set to open for them this summer.

Rangers’ transfer plans have seen them identify Andersen as a long-term target of late, and they will surely be on red alert after the way that he has just spoken about his future.

Silas Andersen adamant over summer transfer

Andersen has quickly established himself as one of the brightest young prospects in the Swedish top-flight, and that has seen the Dane attract plenty of interest of late.

Rangers have been just one of the potential suitors for him, while Bundesliga outfit Cologne also saw a bid of over £2.3million knocked back in January, according to Bold.

The Danish outlet have interviewed the youngster regarding his current stance on his future, and he was quick to emphasise that his new contract has not changed anything.

Andersen insisted that he is still “happy” with his role at Hacken, but also acknowledged that they made a “plan” when he joined that he would “play a lot of games and develop.”

He also suggested that a move elsewhere this summer is part of that plan, and nothing has changed in that regard in recent weeks.

That is sure to have Rangers on red alert, as it looks increasingly likely that Hacken will not stand in the way of any advancements that come ahead of next season.

Rangers to gain edge over Wolves with Champions League

Football Insider revealed last week that Champions League qualification holds the key for Rangers to sign Andersen this summer, as the lure of the competition could prove decisive for them.

Europe’s premier club competition can be an excellent bargaining tool for clubs when it comes to their ability to sign players, and the Glasgow giants are currently on course to land themselves a place in qualifying next season.

However, while Rangers may have the edge in that regard, Wolves are well-placed to be able to win the financial battle amid the chasing pack, as they are set to receive parachute payments if they are relegated from the Premier League.

That looks set to potentially give Rob Edwards’ side the edge when it comes to the transfer fee, but if the Ibrox outfit can at least compete in that department, then a Champions League opportunity could prove all-important.
