Rangers outcast set for temporary exit with talks at advanced stage - report
Rangers forward Joe Dodoo is close to moving to Blackpool on a season long loan deal, according to a report.
Sky Sports claims that talks between the clubs are already at an ‘advanced stage’, and 22-year-old could be a Blackpool player soon.
Dodoo joined the Gers in 2016 from Leicester, and was a first-team regular in his first season with the club, making 25 appearances and scoring five goals.
Last season however he was not involved at all for the Gers, spending the season on loan at Charlton instead.
Football Insider verdict
If this deal goes ahead, it makes a lot of sense for both Joe Dodoo and Rangers overall. With the greatest respect to the player, he doesn’t look like he will be in the plans of Steven Gerrard, and if he is wanting regular football he could well get that at Blackpool. He has two years left on his contract, and it would be a shock if any of that time at all was spent at Ibrox. Perhaps if he does well at Blackpool the clubs could come to some deal where the player moves there on loan on a permanent basis. Dodoo did reasonably well in his first season with Gers, under then boss Mark Warburton, but since then his chances at the club have been few and far between, as Pedro Caxinha didn’t seem to fancy the player, and now it looks like the same is true of Gerrard, who is in the process of bringing his own players in, and Dodoo doesn’t seem to be part of his plans.
