Rangers have been linked with a move for experienced Portsmouth striker Brett Pitman, according to a report.
The Scotsman claim that the 30-year-old, who has had a prolific season in League One for Portsmouth, has put himself on the radar of the Ibrox club after scoring 25 goals in 41 games last season.
Portsmouth missed out on promotion to the Championship, finishing in eighth place, and the report claims that Pitman is now ready for a new challenge.
Pitman joined from Ipswich in 2017 and has had some decent seasons in the Championship, his best being the 2014/15 season when he scored 13 goals in 34 league games for Bournemouth.
Football Insider verdict:
Pitman isn’t going to excite Rangers fans in the same way as Oli McBurnie would. And he’s no Fernando Torres. It’s also got to be asked whether he’s an improvement on what they have at the moment. If Alfredo Morelos was to leave then Pitman and Jason Cummings aren’t going to fire Rangers to the top of the Premiership. We can’t see this one happening, and we’re pretty sure most rangers fans will be hoping it doesn’t.
