Liverpool will hand Rangers a huge blow by refusing to loan them Harry Wilson, according to a report.

The Echo claim Celtic have already had a bid to sign Wilson rejected even though they are “desperate” to take him next season.

It is said that Liverpool have more than 12 offers on the table from clubs in England and Scotland for the Wales international, 21.

The Echo report Wilson will only be loaned to an English club and points out how Celtic are totally out of the running because of Brendan Rodgers’ mis-use of players from Premier League giants in the past.

Rangers have already taken Ovie Ejaria on a season-long loan but manager Steven Gerrard’s hopes of following up with the capture of Wilson now appear dead in the water.

Hull, who took Wilson for the second half of last season, are one of a dozen Championship clubs who have so far enquired about taking him on loan – the others are Aston Villa, Leeds, Derby, Stoke, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Preston, QPR, Reading, Swansea and West Brom.

In other Rangers news, the Scottish giants have been made overwhelming favourites to sign a Premier League striker with a glittering record.
