Rangers see hopes of summer Joel Piroe deal boosted amid latest Leeds snub
Rangers have just seen their prospects of signing Leeds United striker Joel Piroe receive a huge shot in the arm after Sunday’s FA Cup action.
The Suriname international has found gametime hard to come by in the Premier League so far this season, but he had been heavily involved in their cup run, starting in two of the previous three rounds.
However, that changed drastically at the weekend, when Daniel Farke’s side triumphed on penalties away at West Ham to book their place at Wembley for the semi-finals.
Piroe didn’t start the game at the London Stadium, and Farke didn’t even call on him from the bench until half-time of extra time.
Piroe’s future at Leeds has been in serious doubt in recent weeks, and Farke’s latest snub will be music to the ears of those at Ibrox, with Rangers making him a clear target.

Football Insider revealed back in March that Piroe is prepared to force a move away from Leeds this summer if his level of gametime doesn’t improve before the end of the campaign.
Rangers are still interested in signing the 26-year-old after their failed attempts back in January, and the Whites’ own aspirations are set to play into their plans, with a new striker high on the agenda at Elland Road this summer.

Piroe’s frustration regarding his lack of football will surely have been compounded by his late involvement in the FA Cup quarter-final, as Farke opted to select other options ahead of him, despite the key role he had played in his team’s progression until then.
Football Insider recently revealed that Leeds are prepared to accept an offer for the frontman to depart this summer, and it seems there is little standing in the way of Rangers making a move.
They even share the same 49ers ownership with the Premier League side, which would in theory, make negotiations between the two clubs relatively uncomplicated in order to strike a deal.
The former Swansea man has faded to the fringes of the squad at Leeds since their promotion, and Sunday’s snub was as clear an indication as any that his involvement is unlikely to increase any time soon.
Piroe move to finish Bojan Miovski at Rangers
Football Insider revealed back in February that Bojan Miovski may push to leave Rangers this summer if he remains on the fringes of the squad.
The North Macedonian scored in his side’s 4-2 win over Dundee United last weekend, but his tally of starts still stands at just 13 in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The ex-Aberdeen star is expected to potentially take matters into his own hands ahead of next season, and any move for Piroe would surely increase the chances of his departure even further.
Miovski has struggled to find the form that made him such a feared striker with Aberdeen, and Piroe’s arrival would surely see him fall further down the pecking order.
He is already frustrated with the lack of football that he is receiving at Ibrox, and further attacking additions would likely spell the end for him.
