Rangers are set to announce the signing of winger Jake Hastie this week after completing the formalities of a transfer, Football Insider understands.
Steven Gerrard admitted last Friday that the Light Blues are keen on prising the 20-year-old from Motherwell, where Stephen Robinson has frozen him out of the side after claiming he had agreed a move.
Football Insider revealed two weeks that Hastie was set to spurn interest from multiple English clubs to sign for Rangers after agreeing the terms of a four-year contract.
The young attacker subsequently underwent a medical with the Glasgow giants and, with a deal signed, an Ibrox source has told Football Insider the club are now set to announce their second summer signing.
Rangers have already signed Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones on a pre-contract deal and Hastie will join him after securing similar terms.
The Scotland Under-21 international has earned rave reviews for his performances for Motherwell since returning from a loan spell at Alloa Athletic in the first half of the campaign.
He has scored seven goals in 14 matches for the Scottish Premiership outfit, including six strikes in league fixtures.
But he was benched against Hamilton 10 days ago amid speculation he was set to leave Motherwell and was dropped from the squad altogether for last weekend’s 4-3 win over Dundee.
There is a possibility Hastie has played his last game for ‘Well after finalising his move to Rangers.
