Rangers set to let Max Aarons leave as Bournemouth ready for end-of-season talks
Max Aarons looks set to have no long-term future at Rangers when his loan spell from AFC Bournemouth reaches its conclusion at the end of the season.
The right-back made the move north of the border from the Premier League club last summer, but things haven’t gone to plan for him since Danny Rohl took the reins at Ibrox.
The 25-year-old began the campaign as a key player under Russell Martin, but his successor has used him in a much more limited fashion, and Aarons hasn’t started a single league game since 21 December.
Rangers’ transfer plans are already taking shape for the upcoming summer window, and sources say it is clear that they see no future for Aarons, as his potential options for his next move have now emerged.

Aarons has featured 17 times in the Scottish Premiership this season, but Rohl has cast him firmly to the fringes of the squad in recent weeks.
Dujon Sterling’s long-awaited return from injury has provided further competition alongside James Tavernier on the right of the defence, while new signing Tuur Rommens has already made the left-back slot his own in recent weeks.
Rangers have no option or obligation to buy Aarons as part of their initial loan deal, and while that would not have stopped them from pursuing him on a permanent basis this summer, it has now become clear that they have no intention of doing so.
Wolves and Feyenoord are both queuing up for end-of-season talks regarding a deal with Bournemouth, according to journalist Ekrem Konur via his X account.
Porto are also said to hold a “big interest” in the former Norwich City, but Rangers are not mentioned as part of the conversation in any instance.
That is undoubtedly a telltale sign that they are happy to see Aarons walk away from Ibrox at the end of his loan spell, and likely feel that they can find a better alternative to him for next term.
Danny Rohl faces major James Tavernier contract hurdle
Football Insider recently revealed that Tavernier’s age is the only stumbling block for Rangers when it comes to the situation regarding his contract.
The 34-year-old has still been a key player for the Gers this season, but is now into the final months of his current contract, and could leave on a free transfer in the summer.
It is understood that the preference of both the club and Tavernier’s camp is for the skipper to sign a new deal, but his age is providing the only hurdle at the moment.
If Rangers ultimately decide to keep hold of the veteran, then their right-back depth is surely adequately covered by him and Sterling for another season at least.
However, if they ultimately decide that it is time to move on from Tavernier, then it would surely result in a new right-back being targeted ahead of next season.
