Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham could have his hand forced into making a decision over his Ibrox future with Allan McGregor looking set to take the number one jersey this season.
Foderingham has been undisputed number one since arriving at Ibrox in 2015 but the signing of McGregor now makes it look unlikely that Foderingham will re-take his place between the sticks.
The former Swindon star has seen off competition from Cammy Bell, Maciej Gostomski, Matt Gilks and Jak Alnwick but the return of McGregor to Ibrox after six years away will see Foderingham relegated to back-up.
While Foderingham may be prepared to stay and fight for his place, come January the 27-year-old likely won’t be as happy at watching from the sidelines on a weekly basis.
Although McGregor’s career is winding down, he’s still a superior goalkeeper to Foderingham and it wouldn’t make a huge amount of sense to bring him back to Ibrox to sit on the bench.
Foderingham has been a great performer for the Gers since signing in 2015 but it increasingly looks as though his time at Ibrox is coming to an end – and the 27-year-old will have a massive decision to make over his future sooner rather than later.
