Rangers manager Graeme Murty sprung a surprise with his starting XI to face Partick Thistle on Tuesday when he named Jason Cummings ahead of Alfredo Morelos.
Morelos’ Ibrox future has been a hot topic recently with bids received from China for the prolific striker – and his reaction to being axed will go a long way to determining his Ibrox future.
The 21-year-old has quickly proven to be a fan favourite at Ibrox thanks to his goal-scoring exploits and committed displays and fans will be desperate to see the Colombian remain at Ibrox for a long time.
While Morelos was only dropped to the bench so Murty could “freshen” his side up, if the Colombian does see his future elsewhere then it’ll be interesting to see how he responds.
The former HJK Helsinki striker is almost certain to come back into the side for Sunday’s trip to Ayr United in the Scottish Cup fifth round – possibly even alongside Cummings – and the Light Blues will be hoping for him to continue his scoring form.
If the striker sees his future elsewhere he might start acting up a bit and agitating that he wants away, however all the noises coming from Ibrox indicate he wants to stay in Glasgow.
With the Chinese transfer window open until the end of the month, if there is any further interest from the Far East, we’ll quickly see how committed Morelos is to the Gers.
In other Rangers news, it can be revealed that a key first teamer has sensationally asked to leave after the board failed to stick to their promise of giving him a new deal during the transfer window.
