Rangers attacker Josh Windass has paid tribute to departing team-mate Kenny Miller after the Gers’ final game of the season – with Miller’s contract expiring imminently and bringing his third stint at Ibrox to an end.
Miller is expected to be one of a host of players to leave the Ibrox giant this summer as Steven Gerrard takes the reins on June 1st – and Windass revealed that the veteran has helped him out on and off the park since he arrived at Ibrox from Accrington Stanley in 2016.
Miller is serving a suspension issued by the club after bust-up with manager Graeme Murty – and Windass took to social media after the 5-5 draw with Hibernian on Sunday to give thanks to a “legend” at Ibrox.
“And another thing, not had the send off he deserves but what a player this man has been for the football club,” Windass said, on his personal Instagram account.
“Helped me out on and off the park since I’ve been here. A legend of this club and an even better guy. Privilege to share the dressing room with you K dog.”
Football Insider verdict
The reason he didn’t get a proper send off is because he is currently suspended by the Gers. This is just the latest in a long line of utterly tone-deaf Josh Windass social media posts- and isn’t likely to endear him to many within Ibrox given Miller’s suspension. After celebrating his goals and assists tally despite the Gers finishing third in the league and then praising Miller, all that’s missing is a post congratulating Celtic on winning the title for Windass to complete the set of stupid stuff Rangers players shouldn’t put on social media after finishing third in a two-team league. Surely Windass can’t be that daft that he didn’t think that either this post or one about his partnership with Alfredo Morelos was only going to rub fans up the wrong way in the hours after being beaten to second in the Scottish Premiership. Then again, this is someone who likes an omelette but doesn’t like eggs so there isn’t much in Josh Windass’ head that makes sense.
