Rangers must bin high-earning star in summer after latest bombshell at Ibrox
Rangers defender Bruno Alves looks as though he could miss this weekend’s Old Firm clash with a hamstring pull – and the veteran’s injury problems are getting to be beyond farcical and should see the Gers bin him in the summer.
Alves has had a number of problems this season that have kept him out of important games – as well as limping out of the December Old Firm meeting after 15 minutes – and it appears that the Portuguese international’s body is starting to give up on him with this latest bombshell.
Gers boss Graeme Murty confirmed Alves could miss the trip to Celtic Park, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, after he missed the 2-1 win over Hearts on Sunday.
The 95-times capped international is believed to have travelled to Spain for treatment by Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal physio as he tries to seal a place in his country’s World Cup squad but the Gers should really look at getting rid of Alves in the summer.
The former Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg and Fenerbahce defender will be one of the highest earners at Ibrox and, with a huge turnover of players expected in the summer, it is money that can be used far more effectively by the Light Blues.

Alves has not come close to living up to expectations at Ibrox after his summer move from Serie A side Cagliari and if his poor performances had not already marked him out as someone the Gers could do without then his regular injury problems should be the final straw.
