Murty must be confident of win after Rangers have triple boost for Celtic clash
COMMENT
Rangers look to have got over the worst of their injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm clash after Declan John, Lee Wallace and Jamie Murphy were all photographed taking part in training on Thursday afternoon.
The trio were all doubts for the clash with Brendan Rodgers’ side at Ibrox but their returns, as photographed by the Daily Record, will definitely have given Graeme Murty reason to be confident.
Wallace has been out of action from September and could get a place on the bench with John set to return to the starting XI ahead of Andy Halliday while the return of Murphy will give Murty a big decision to make over whether Jason Cummings makes the starting XI after his hat-trick v Falkirk last weekend.
With the Gers needing to take three points against their bitter rivals to have any chance of mounting a serious title challenge having three key players available for selection could be vital to the Light Blues’ success.
Murphy and John have already started to form a good understanding together down the left and having both back in side to take on Celtic will put the Hoops’ right-back under serious pressure and possibly even force Rodgers’ to adjust his tactical plans to protect his side from the Gers’ wide-men.
