Rangers striker Joe Dodoo is expected to complete a season-long loan move to Blackpool on Tuesday, according to a report, after completing a medical with the League One club.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, the Seasiders had hoped to announce the deal on Monday but were still awaiting confirmation of the move from Ibrox after the Ghanaian-born striker travelled to Bloomfield Road to put the finishing touched to the deal.
Dodoo joined Rangers from Leicester City in 2016 but has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place at Ibrox and spent the first half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic.
Football Insider verdict:
Dodoo came to Ibrox with lots of promise but failed to live up to expectation following his move from Leicester City. Heading for Blackpool gives Dodoo a chance to get his career back on track and get playing regularly again. With little likelihood of forcing his way into the side at Ibrox anytime soon, Dodoo needs games and a loan suits both parties. The former England youth international still has two seasons left on his Ibrox contract and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Gers try to move Dodoo on permanently next summer after his loan with Blackpool comes to an end. Despite showing brief glimpses of quality Dodoo simply didn’t do anywhere near enough to hold down a regular place it Ibrox. With only five goals in 27 appearances over his time at the Gers, it seems impossible that Dodoo is going to somehow turn things around and force his way into Steven Gerrard’s plans.
