Rangers tipped to sell Borna Barisic on one condition after Premier League transfer report – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Rangers will only sell Borna Barisic if a sizeable offer arrives this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker suggested the Gers will be reluctant to lose Barisic after Calvin Bassey’s exit.

The Croatian left-back played 90 minutes in the Gers’ 4-0 win over St Johnstone on Saturday (13 August).

According to the Daily Mail (13 August), newly promoted Nottingham Forest are interested in signing the 29-year-old.

Barisic currently has two years remaining on his contract at Ibrox.

On 20 July, Rangers confirmed Bassey signed for Dutch top-flight side Ajax.

When asked if Barisic could leave the Glasgow club amid Premier League interest, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I don’t think they’re looking to sell him at all.

The money in today’s game, what they’re worth and what the get sold for are two completely different things.

Rangers

Barisic is like [Calvin] Bassey, he’s not played every game well. Every club will have a price for every player and if they get that they’ll sell them. That’s the way of the world, especially in Scotland where they have to sell them.

If somebody comes in for him and offers decent money, he’ll have to go but I can’t see them selling him after they sold Bassey. He’s getting a good run in the team at Rangers, why would he want to leave. If he goes to England he’ll be sitting on the bench.

In other news, Alex McLeish has issued emphatic Antonio Colak claim after what he’s just seen at Rangers.
