Rangers are set to complete a deal for Brighton defender Connor Goldson in the next 48 hours, according to a report.
The Glasgow Evening Times claims that the Gers are likely to finalise a deal for the centre-back by Wednesday after agreeing a £3million fee for him.
It is understood the 25-year-old is close to putting pen to paper at Ibrox and he will become the latest addition made by Steven Gerrard in the next couple of days.
Goldson will be the fifth new arrival following in the footsteps of Jamie Murphy, Allan McGregor and Scott Anfield, while Ovie Ejaria also arrived on loan from Liverpool.
Football Insider verdict:
Rangers fans will be delighted when Goldson’s switch to Ibrox is officially confirmed after heavy speculation and it seems they won’t have to wait too much longer. The powerhouse centre-back could turn out to be a brilliant signing for the Light Blues in the long run and £3million seems a decent fee. He has not quite had the rub of the green during his time with Brighton, but is a no-nonsense defender that will become an instant favourite at Ibrox if he hits the ground running and should help bolster the backline. Gerrard has needed to reinforce his defence and the arrival of a new centre-back will help. It is most admirable that Rangers are getting a lot of their business done early this summer and that will give the new manager plenty of time to get to work with his players. The crunch European qualifiers will creep up on the Scottish giants quickly and Gerrard is wasting no time in building his squad.
In other Rangers transfer news, they are leading the hunt to sign an in-demand attacker from Liverpool.
