Rangers work on deal to sign Keelan Adams – sources

Rangers are plotting a move to sign Falkirk right-back Keelan Adams ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that scouts have been in attendance at a number of his games this season as they work on a potential deal.

This comes amid speculation over the future of James Tavernier who has been subject to interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia since the summer.

Adams, 23, is said to trick a lot of boxes for the Ibrox club since he is young, Scottish, and has potential to be sold on for a profit in the future.

However, he has also attracted admirers at Championship outfits Leeds and Swansea, who could step up their interest to rival Rangers for his signature.

This would come as a blow to Philippe Clement’s side, who would not be able to match the financial packages on offer from English clubs given their ongoing situation.

Falkirk, meanwhile, are keen to hike up his price tag and sell to the highest bidder as they plan to make the maximum amount of profit from his sale.

Rangers plot swoop to sign Falkirk star Keelan Adams

Tavernier’s future has been a talking point at Ibrox since the summer amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, when he was linked with a reunion with Steven Gerrard.

The 33-year-old’s performances have been subject to plenty of debate, with many suggesting he is starting to come to the end of his career.

As a result, there is a growing feeling that he cannot remain a nailed-on starter at Ibrox and the clubs need to enter the transfer market in search of a replacements.

Adams has emerged as a potential replacement given his performances in the Scottish Championship, where he has made 16 appearances for the league leaders.

Rangers

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that Rangers are looking to sign the best Scottish talent as part of a new transfer plan.

The potential arrival of Adams would fit that criteria and display the progress the club have – particularly if they can beat rivals to his signature.
