Rangers midfielder Jordan Thompson has revealed Gers team-mate Liam Kelly sold him on making a short-term switch to Livingston after joining the Lions until the end of the season.
Kelly spent last season with the Almondvale side and helped them win promotion to the Scottish Championship before returning to Ibrox over the summer.
Thompson is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer and will be hoping his stint with Livi can help him win extended terms at Ibrox after joining from Manchester United in 2015.
The midfielder revealed Kelly only had positive things to say about his time in West Lothian and is looking forward to the opportunity to play regular first-team games after completing his temporary exit from Ibrox.
“I was speaking with Liam and asking him all about the club and I think he was chatting to the coaching staff about me,” Thompson said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“He said he loved his time at the club and spoke very highly of the place and all the staff.
“He told me that the players were a hard-working bunch and that it would be a good move for me and that I will enjoy being here.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to play regular games so I’m delighted to be a Livingston player for the rest of the season.”
Thompson has made a handful of appearances for the Gers’ first-team but has struggled to earn a regular place and has been overtaken by Jamie Barjonas and Ross McCrorie in the race for a first-team spot.
The 21-year-old midfielder spent much of last season on loan with Raith Rovers alongside Ryan Hardie but was unable to prevent the Kirkcaldy side’s relegation to League One.
Livingston are currently fifth in the Scottish Championship – level on points with fourth-placed Queen of the South – and will be hoping to secure a top four place and a spot in the promotion play-offs at the end of the season.
