Ray Wilkins: Liverpool would improve their defence with this PL stalwart, available for free

Ray Wilkins has cheekily claimed that Liverpool would improve their defence if they signed Chelsea captain John Terry in the summer.
Terry, 36, may have played his last game at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, as he scored his 65th Chelsea goal to give the Blues the lead in an enthralling 4-3 win over Watford.
Speaking to Alan Brazil’s sports breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, former Chelsea assistant manager Wilkins claimed Terry looked in good shape against Watford.
He told former Liverpool striker Micky Quinn that the Merseyside giants could profit from going against their transfer policy of signing young players to bring Terry to Anfield.
“Quinny, you’re sitting there matey and perhaps Liverpool could do with him,” Wilkins said.

“I was watching him last night and considering he hasn’t played for a long, long period of time, he looked as fit as a flea.”
Former England captain Terry has announced that he will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire in six weeks’ time.
The BBC quoted Terry after the win over Watford as saying that he could retire when his contract does finish, but is yet to make a decision and is willing to consider offers.
Terry is just nine league appearances away from joining an elite club of players to have played in 500 Premier League matches, with only 12 players ever to reach the landmark.
Liverpool’s defence has come under criticism this season, with the likes of Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan unable to prevent the Reds from conceding the most goals in the top five teams of England’s top flight.
It’s unlikely Liverpool fans would welcome him though and, at 36-years-old, it’s also extremely doubtful that Jurgen Klopp would consider a move for a player seen as too old for a Premier League rival.
