‘Really bad’ – O’Kane delivers brutally honest verdict on Leeds loss v Sheffield Wednesday
By Danny Wright
Eunan O’Kane has admitted that it was a “really bad” performance from Leeds United when they were thrashed 3-0 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Sunday.
A first half brace from Gary Hooper got Carlos Carvahal’s side off to a good start in the Yorkshire derby clash before Kieran Lee rounded off proceedings in the 82nd minute.
O’Kane, 27, has put his hands up and has held himself responsible for the third goal that Leeds conceded in what was a brutally honest assessment of the loss on his personal Twitter account.
“A really bad performance today. I can only apologise for the extremely poor decision that gifted them the 3rd goal,” he said on Sunday.
O’Kane has been in great form for Leeds this season but has now seen his side slump to back-to-back defeats in the Championship, losing their spot at the top of the standings.
However it would be hard to say that any of the Whites players were on the top of the game at the weekend in what was a humiliating defeat for the side against Sheffield Wednesday, who have been in poor form as of late.
Thomas Christiansen and his men will now have an extended period to stew over the poor results at Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff in the past few days as the international break has started.
When Championship action resumes, Leeds face a testing clash with Reading at Elland Road on October 14.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the hunt to sign this defensive colossus from a title winning side after a summer move was blocked.
