'Really strange' - Exclusive: Bent shocked as Everton on brink of transfer
Darren Bent admits he is shocked Max Aarons is still at Norwich City as Ben Godfrey closes in on a move to Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England striker has revealed he thought the 20-year-old right-back would have left Carrow Road before new Newcastle United man Jamal Lewis or Godfrey.
Lewis left Carrow Road for St James’ Park at the start of September following the Canaries’ relegation to the Championship.
However, Bent admits he is shocked that the pair have secured moves back to the Premier League before Aarons.
Bent told Football Insider: “I like him and do you know what, it’s really strange because when you look at that Norwich back-four, I was always thinking that it was going to be Max Aarons that would be first one out the door.

“It looks like he’s the only one that’s going to be staying. Jamal Lewis has already gone to Newcastle United, Godfrey’s on his way to Everton – I really like him and I like what Everton are doing.”
Godfrey played in Norwich’s opening three Championship games of the season but was left out of Saturday’s lunchtime clash with Derby County.
Aarons meanwhile has been an ever-present for Farke this term as he made his 87th appearance for the club against the Rams.
