Redknapp delivers one-word response to whether Tottenham can win title next season
By Harry Sykes
Jamie Redknapp emphatically answered “yes” in his Mail column when asked if Tottenham can win the Premier League title next season.
The high-profile pundit delivered the one-word reply as he assessed whether Mauricio Pochettino’s young and vibrant side can go one better in 2017-18.
Spurs finished the season in sensational fashion, winning 12 of their last 13 league matches, including 7-1 and 6-1 demolitions of Hull City in the final two games of the campaign.
But it was not enough to dismantle Chelsea, who were crowned champions with a final tally of 93 points, seven more than the north Londoners.
Nevertheless, 86 points would have been enough for Tottenham to win the title on eight occasions in Premier League history, including in 2015-16 when they were the strongest challengers to eventual winners Leicester.

Asked if Spurs can win the title, Redknapp told the Mail: “Yes. They have been the most consistent team over the last two years and have finished as they mean to start next season with 13 goals in two games. The Wembley move isn’t ideal but if this exciting, young team stick together the sky is the limit.”
Tottenham’s season may have ended without a trophy, but Pochettino’s men are the most successful side to have graced White Hart Lane since the Premier League began.
They will spend next season at Wembley before moving to their new stadium for the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
