Redknapp: This Tottenham midfielder was immense against Southampton (not Alli)

Jamie Redknapp hailed Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama as “immense” after he helped his side to a 4-1 victory over Southampton on Wednesday evening.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder lined up at St Mary’s Stadium for the first time since completing a summer move from the south coast in the summer.
He was a rock in the Spurs midfield as he battled strongly against his former team, allowing the Saints to just one goal across the 90 minutes.
Tottenham attacking midfield ace Dele Alli was named Sky Sports’ man-of-the-match for his two goals in the match.
However, Redknapp picked out Wanyama as one of the stars after the match.

“Dele Alli obviously got man-of-the-match, but Victor Wanyama was immense in midfield,” told Redknapp on Sky Sports 1 after the match. “He showed why they brought him in the summer, the power that he possesses, he’d be a nightmare to play against.
“He started to get well equipped with the game, as did Dembele and then you could only really see one winner.”
Wanyama made the switch from Southampton to White Hart Lane in the summer for an £11million fee, which saw him rejoin boss Mauricio Pochettino.
He has become an instant hit for the north London side, playing 24 times and becoming a regular in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield.
The win on Wednesday has seen Spurs move to within a point of fierce rivals Arsenal in fourth and Wanyama will be hoping to help Tottenham finish in the top four for the second year running.
