Two regulars axed in Murty 4-2-3-1: Rangers best possible XI to face Partick
COMMENT By Richard Parks
Graeme Murty should make a number of changes to the Rangers starting XI to face Partick Thistle tonight (Tuesday) by axing a couple of players who fluffed their lines in Saturday’s 2-1 league defeat to Hibernian.
The Light Blues had high hopes of extending their winning run at Ibrox after watching Celtic slip to a rare defeat just minutes earlier but they blew the chance to make the one-horse race into something more competitive.
Saturday’s loss was the fifth of the season on their home patch for Rangers, but at least they have an immediate opportunity to make amends for the defeat that surely ends any hopes of making life difficult for the runaway Scottish Premiership leaders on the other side of Glasgow.
Opponents Partick are in decent form they followed up an impressive 3-1 away win over Ross County with a 1-1 draw, also away, against Motherwell.
The Firhill side currently sit in 10th in the table, precariously above the drop zone as Alan Archibald looks to guide his side away from danger.
By contrast, Rangers are third and a distant 14 points adrift of Celtic, although they do have a game in hand to at least narrow the deficit to 11 points.
Football Insider has named the best possible Rangers starting XI to face Partick, which includes full debuts for two players in a new-look side and the axe for a player who had an absolute stinker at the weekend.
