Barcelona have the option to a further two years as part of the contract, that sees the 18-year-old have a £21.9million release clause.
McGuane completed his medical this afternoon, and will now join up with with Barcelona ‘B’ team.
The 18-year-old has been associated with Arsenal since joining the academy at the under-six level back in 2005, but never made a senior appearance for the club.
Football Insider verdict:
Marcus McGuane is a promising English talent, and has represented the National team at levels under-17 to under-19. He has impressed during his time with Arsenal’s academy, but was never able to break through into the first team. This move will see him team up with one of the best academy setups in the world, where his development could sky rocket. Being in the same house as Lionel Messi can only fill the 18-year-old with a bunch of confidence, and being in the same training routine’s will only stand him in good stead when his first team chances come. Keep an eye on this one!
