Leeds striker Frank Mulhern has quit the club, according to a reliable journalist.
BBC broadcaster Adam Pope took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to reveal that the forward, 19, had severed his ties with the Championship giants.
The bombshell comes 24 hours after it emerged that Mulhern was on trial at Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.
Leeds fans were shocked when the Terriers revealed on their website that Mulhern had been included in their Under-23s side that beat Crewe Alexandra 2-1 on Monday.
Pope reported on his personal Twitter account that he had been told the Republic of Ireland Under-19 international “is now a free agent and was able to play for Huddersfield at Crewe yesterday without permission from Leeds”.

The revelation that Mulhern has agreed to end his contract at Leeds with six months of the deal still remaining is a major shock.
Former Elland Road academy chief Paul Hart had spoken warmly of the young Irishman after he had signed a two-year professional contract in the summer of 2015.
Mulhern was a regular for the Leeds Under-23s team last season and then agreed a loan to non-league Southport earlier in this campaign.
But the young forward struggled to make an impact at the Merseyside outfit and returned to his parent club after making a single appearance.
Football Insider verdict:
How Mulhern has gone from hotshot sensation to discard in such a short space of time is a mystery. Knowledgeable football men like ex-Leeds manager Neil Redfearn and veteran coach Paul Hart spoke warmly of the teenager last season as a player with a big future. Now, he is deemed surplus to requirements to the extent that he has left Elland Road with six months remaining on his first professional contract. Clearly, something has happened behind the scenes. Leeds have a fine track record in developing players and will surely have good reasons for letting Mulhern go. But it is nevertheless a shame that it has not worked out for one who appeared capable of progressing into the first team.
