Leeds have finally completed the deal for former Argentina manager Marcelo Bielsa, according to a reliable journalist.
Marca journalist Jason Pettigrove made the claim on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning.
He claimed the deal was done and that the official announcement would be made as soon as his work permit arrived – that was expected in the next few hours.
Football Insider verdict:
Great news for Leeds but this is just the start of what is expected to be a very interesting journey. Pettigrove ended his tweet with the words “Strap yourselves in!!!” and that is just a hint that Bielsa is a maverick and that the shape of football at Leeds is set to change dramatically. With talk of 3-3-3-1 formations and playing a core group of players through thick, thin and exhaustion, Leeds fans might not know what has hit them, but will be desperately praying they get the old Bielsa, not the one who had a disastrous reign at Lille. Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and Man City boss Pep Guardiola both swear by Bielsa and credit him for the way they play the game. However, are Leeds getting a mad, old genius or a manager who is capable of reinventing himself for the rugged, no-nonsense Championship. One thing is certain, you can’t fault the ambition and drive of Andrea Radrizzani and fans should get behind him through thick and thin. Could the tail-end of Bielsa’s career see him becoming a legend at Elland Road? We certainly hope so.
