Leeds have “serious interest” in Capri striker Jerry Mbakogu but the bad news for Leeds fans is that if he does sign it will definitely not be in this transfer window, according to a reliable journalist.
Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post reported the news on his personal Twitter page on Monday lunchtime shortly after the Leeds pre-match press conference.

This follows on from a report that claimed Leeds United had reached an agreement with Carpi to sign Mbakogu for £3.5million.
Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier on Monday Leeds were set to swoop on the 25-year-old after sending scouts to watch him play in Serie B.
Mbakogu has scored eight goals in 20 appearances in the Italian second tier and Leeds will be hoping that he’ll get the chance to do it in the English top flight next season.
Football Insider verdict:
Good news and bad news. Leeds fans want a new striker but they want him now, not in the summer. Plus, Mbakogu is from Serie B and he’s not exactly ripping up the Italian lower flight. Leeds must have seen something they like but their track record with overseas deals is patchy to say the least. Still, it does look like that’s going to be the best news they’re going to get in this January window as far as a new goal scorer is concerned.
