Newcastle United defender Achraf Lazaar might not complete his deadline day move to Italian outfit Benevento, according to a reliable journalist.
Lee Ryder, the chief footballer reporter for the Chronicle and multimedia journalist at the Tyneside club, has revealed on his personal Twitter account that Newcastle are considering keeping the 25-year-old this season due to a lack of cover.

The Magpies have seen the likes of Paul Dummett and summer signing Florian Lejeune suffer injuries at the start of the new campaign which could lead to Lazaar enjoying more minutes this season.
This comes after La Gazzetta Dello Sport reporter Nicolo Schira earlier revealed on his personal Twitter account that the left-back was set to complete a loan deal to the Serie A side on the last day of the transfer window.
The Moroccan has endured a tough spell at the Tyneside club since completing his move last summer from Italian side Palermo.

The full-back spent the majority of the campaign watching on the from the sidelines last season, only featuring in 11 matches in all competitions.
Lazaar has yet to feature for the Magpies in their return back to the Premier League this season.
The defender only managed to make the substitutes bench in the Caribou Cup defeat against Nottingham Forest last week.
Lazaar currently has five years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle supporters won’t worry too much should Lazaar secure a move away from the Magpies this summer. Unfortunately for the defender, he has been unable to stamp his authority on the club and it will certainly be beneficial for his career if he manages to leave on deadline day. Newcastle have been short at the back from the first day of the Premier League season and the Moroccan has yet to earn a place in the starting lineup which means that he is surplus to requirements at the club. The Magpies will surely find a way to get the deal over the line before the transfer window shuts later tonight.
In other Newcastle news, fans have reacted on Twitter after the club announced that an attacker had secured a deal.
