Sturridge has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting lineup at Anfield since Jurgen Klopp became the club manager two years ago.
The striker has suffered from a number of injuries but when fully fit, the German has decided to opt with pace and work-rate up top with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi the preferred choices.
The England international has only featured in two matches for the Reds this season but he managed to get himself on the scoresheet as they emphatically defeated Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield last weekend.

Although he has been made to watch on from the sidelines throughout his spell on Merseyside mainly due to injury, Sturridge has demonstrated that he can deliver the necessary goals, notching up 62 strikes in 121 appearances for the club.
The striker’s current contract at Anfield runs out in 2019.
Football Insider verdict
This would be one of the biggest deals of this year’s transfer deadline day should the move go through. Although Sturridge still divides opinion amongst fans, he is a player who can guarantee goals and he would be a fantastic addition to the Tottenham squad who have struggled in front of goal at the start of the new campaign. However, with Spurs on the verge of snapping up Fernando Llorente from Swansea City, it is unlikely that this deal will be sanctioned. Even though he is not a starter for the club right now, the Reds will surely not allow the striker to secure a move to one of their league rivals with barely anytime bring in a replacement.
In other Liverpool news, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s camp has confirmed that he is signing for the Reds.
