‘Remembered and revered’ – Former Celtic skipper advises star man to keep ‘living the dream’

Former Celtic skipper Tom Boyd has advised Kieran Tierney to stay with the Hoops rather than move to any number of clubs reportedly interested in the player.

Boyd believes that Tiereny has the chance to be ‘remembered and revered’ more at Celtic than he has at most other clubs.

The likes of Atletico Madrid and Bournemouth have been rumoured to be interested in the 20-year-old left-back, but Boyd believes that no other side can offer Tierney what the Hoops can.

“He doesn’t have to go any further, he’s living his dream” Boyd said, as quoted by STV Sport.

“If I’d been around and been as good as Kieran at that age at this time I would have wanted to stay.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere.

“You’re remembered and revered at this football club for the success you get not for the money you earn.

“He can get everything at Celtic he ever desires. He can get European football, he’ll not get that at certain clubs.”

Football Insider verdict

Tierney has been getting plenty of advice in what to do with his career, but it is up to him, and if he decides that he wants to leave the Hoops in the summer than people should respect his decision. He probably won’t do that though, and will be content to stay with the Hoops for another few seasons before making a move, probably to England, in a deal which will net the Bhoys plenty of money. Naturally when Tierney leaves there will be an outpouring of emotion, as he seems to be a talisman for the side, and as he is ‘living the dream’, he is doing what fans would love to do, play for the side they grew up supporting. But almost all players end up leaving the club they broke through with, and it will probably be exactly the same with Tierney, who will no doubt depart with the best wishes of the support ringing in his ears, but with some regret that he has decided to leave in the first place.
