Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is set to rejoin his former club FC Midtjylland on loan, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun report that Sviatchenko has been told he is not in Bredan Rodgers immediate plans, so will rejoin his former club back in Denmark on a loan deal.
The report claims that the 26-year-old had attracted interest from around Europe, yet it is FC Midtjylland who moved the quickest and have contacted Celtic reagrding a loan deal.
The Denmark international was brought to Celtic Park in 2016 by former Hoops manager Rony Deila, and has failed to impress current boss Brendan Rodgers.
The Scottish Sun report that FC Midtjylland have called for a press conference on Tuesday, where it is likely that Sviatchenko will be unveiled.
The deal is expected to be finalised shortly.
Football Insider verdict:
Erik Sviatchenko will be thankful for the opportunity to get some more regular football, after failing to impress Rodgers. Denamark are in the World Cup this year, and the 26-year-old will not want to miss the chance to play there – so this deal makes sense. The bid Dane was impressive at times at Celtic Park, so a loan deal will suit Rodgers who can keep the 26-year-old on his radar should he improve back in Denmark.
