By Alex Stevens

Celtic are interested in signing Argentinian left-back Leandro Grimi, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim the Scottish giants are keeping close tabs on the south American ahead of the January transfer window.

It is said that manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to recruit an experienced left-back as competition for teenager and established first-choice Kieran Tierney.

The Scottish Sun go on to report that the Hoops could land the 31-year-old Argentine for as little as £600,000.

Grimi is currently plying his trade in his native Argentina with Racing Club, after spells in Europe with both AC Milan and Sporting Lisbon.

Grimi has made over 230 league appearances during a career that has so far spanned 12 years.

Tierney has appeared in all of Celtic’s league games this season and is the undisputed No1 left-back at Parkhead after progressing through the ranks at the club.

The 19-year-old Scotland international has attracted interest from Premier League clubs including Liverpool but signed a new five-year contract during the summer.

In other Celtic transfer news, the Hoops are one of a number of leading clubs keen on signing a Portugal-based star.
