Celtic have made a move for 26-year-old keeper Scott Bain, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that Brendan Rodgers is trying to pull off a “shock” last-gasp deal for the stopper ahead of the transfer window shutting tomorrow.
The Scottish champions are currently undergoing a crisis in that position, after Craig Gordon was injured in the game against Hibernian last weekend.
And it’s Hibernian that might pay the price as Celtic have approached Dundee and offered to pay a nominal fee for the goalkeeper.
He’s currently on loan to Hibernian until the end of the season and is out of contract in the summer, and it is claimed that Hibs would need to agree to the deal if it was to go through.
It is said that Rodgers has turned his attention to Bain after talks with Motherwell for Trevor Carson.
Football Insider verdict:
This might not be as exciting on the surface as a move for a glamour player like Charly Musonda, but it could be just as important. With Gordon out for three months it only leaves Celtic with Dorus de Vries in goal and Rodgers knows he needs to bring someone in with his club fighting on a number of different fronts this season. Bain only lost his place in the Dundee side after a reported disagreement with manger Neil McCann and he’d be an ideal man to turn to if Celtic find themselves in trouble.
