Report: Top flight side offering Rangers star mega money after seven-figure bid
Rangers could rake in as much as £8million for striker Alfredo Morelos while the Colombian could almost quadruple his wages if he moves to China, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim Morelos stands to earn £27,000-a-week after tax if he moves to Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe after they launched a bid to take the striker to the far east.
Morelos has been a revelation at Ibrox since arriving for £1.1million from HJK Helsinki over the summer and has hit 13 goals in his 27 appearances for the Light Blues so far.
The 21-year-old is, according to the report, earning around £7,000 per week with the Ibrox giants and would dwarf his current wages if he was to move to the cash rich Chinese league.
The Gers have so far rejected any moves to lure Morelos away from Ibrox with little over 12 hours of the transfer window remaining in Scotland to secure a replacement, although, with China’s transfer window open until February 28th, there could still be further bids for the Colombian striker.
Football Insider verdict:
It will not be much of a surprise to anyone that teams in the Chinese Super League can offer hugely increased wages compared to those on offer at Ibrox. With Chinese clubs having been spending money like it was quickly going out of fashion, £8million and £27,000 per week on wages is chump change to the mega rich Chinese sides. Quadrupling your weekly wage is enough to turn anyone’s head and if Morelos decides he wants to go to China it will be difficult to stop him although – hopefully – the Colombian can see the longer-term benefits of staying at Ibrox for the short-term.
