Report details major development on Celtic hunt for Euro goal machine
Celtic are unlikely to make a move for Astana striker Patrick Twumasi next month, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the Hoops are not expected to try and sign Twumasi, 23, in the upcoming January transfer window despite Ghanaian news outlet Ghanasportsonline.com reporting that manager Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of the forward and is eyeing up a potential swoop.
It was understood that a “lucrative” transfer was on the cards for Twumasi, but in a major development, that no longer appears to be the case.
Twumasi has been in blistering goal scoring form for Kazakhstan side Astana this season, especially in European competitions where the goal machine has netted nine goals in 12 games across the Europa League and Champions League.
Two of them strikes came against Celtic in the Champions League qualification rounds, that was won 8-4 by the Hoops on aggregate.

Twumasi looks like a decent player but he really isn’t someone that Celtic would need unless they were to lose on of Leigh Griffiths of Moussa Dembele. The Hoops got by just fine last season with just two strikers on their books, but with the Europa League knock-out rounds coming in February, Rodgers will no doubt want to be able to rotate his squad for the Thursday night games and the following weekend clashes in domestic competition. Twumasi could be an option if Dembele or Griffiths was to go, but in the middle of the season, it seems that the Bhoys will do everything in their power to ensure that they stay.
In other Celtic news, a BBC pundit has claimed that the Hoops have a good chance of signing this playmaker for £2.5million plus this fringe player.
