Hull City are interested in signing Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims on their live transfer blog on their website (Thursday, 15:29 am) that the Championship side are keen to land the 19-year-old on a long deal this season.
The teenager managed to break into the first-team set-up last season, making a total of five appearances in the latter stages of the campaign.
The defender impressed with his performances especially in the Premier League where he showed his great versatility, excelling in the full-back and central defensive positions.
The youngster has failed to feature in the matchday squads at the start of the new campaign but United have not missed his presence, keeping three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League.
Tuanzebe is unlikely to enjoy many minutes with the first-team this season after manager Jose Mourinho decided to sign defender Victor Lindelof earlier this summer.
The defender’s current contract at Old Trafford runs out in 2020.
Football Insider verdict
After his impressive displays with the first-team last season, it might be a great situation for all parties involved to allow the defender to go out on loan and enjoy regular first-team action this season. United have started off the Premier League campaign in sensational style and due to their fantastic defensive record so far, they can afford to let the teenager enjoy more minutes away from Old Trafford. It would be a mistake to sell Tuanzebe on a permanent deal as he has shown that he has the potential to be a fine defender but a loan move would certainly help him progress as a footballer.
