Everton are among a number of clubs monitoring Branislav Ivanovic’s situation at Chelsea, according to a report.
The Daily Mail has claimed that the Toffees are eyeing the two-time Premier League winner, who has entered his ninth year with the Blues.
It is stated that Chelsea are likely to allow the defender to move this window, meaning that the Toffees could secure the 92-time capped Serbia international in January.
Ivanovic, 32, has been an ever-present in the Chelsea team after making the move from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow in the 2008 winter window.
However, he has entered the final few months of his contract at the club and has featured just 15 times for Antonio Conte’s dominant side in all competitions this season.
The versatile defender can play in the centre-back role, while being more natural in the right-back position.
Ivanovic has played in 376 fixtures in total for the London club, bringing a return of 33 goals and 33 assists.
He would bring a vast experience to any side that he joins, having also won the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League during his time with Chelsea.
Everton currently look strong in the right-back position with both Seamus Coleman and Mason Holgate occupying the position.
However, Ronald Koeman could be looking to be add more reinforcements to the centre of his defence.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton currently don’t need a right-back and Ivanovic would be quite the strange purchase considering that’s his main position. The Serbia international does look good on paper with all of his accolades. However, his performance levels have severely diminished in the past year and he was a key reason for why Chelsea played so badly in the 2015-16 campaign. Ivanovic no longer has the pace or power to play consistently in the English top flight and if Koeman is to bring in someone else then he should look for someone younger to add to an already ageing back line
