Report: Everton place PL playmaker top of summer shopping list, £25m will seal the deal
By Harry Sykes
Everton have placed Swansea playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson at the top of their summer shopping list.
Sports site Bleacher Report claim the Iceland international has joined Manchester United record scorer Wayne Rooney as one of the main targets of the ambitious Merseysiders.
It is said that an offer of between £20million and £25million could be enough to seal the deal for a player who is proven in the Premier League.
Everton have showed in the last two transfer windows that they are keen to sign established top-flight players, with Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye, Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams all falling into that category.
Sigurdsson has had another impressive season for relegation-threatened Swansea, scoring nine goals and supplying 10 assists in 29 matches in all competitions, with all but one of those coming in the Premier League.

Football Insider verdict:
Yes, Sigurdsson is technically excellent, proven in the Premier League and has pretty hand stats. He consistently delivers for a side who have fought against relegation in the past two seasons. But that does not mean he is the answer for Everton. The 27-year-old is at his most effective when the game stops, in dead-ball situations. The problem is he is not quite such a superstar when someone is needed to take charge of a game and mould it in their image. Everton are better off keeping hold of Ross Barkley, who has such attributes.
In other Everton transfer news, this Toffees superstar could sign a new £140,000-a-week deal within the next 24 hours.
