Everton could make a double swoop for Burnley duo Andre Gray and Micheal Keane, according to a report.
The Burnley Express has claimed that the Toffees are set to firm up their interest in striker Gray and any move could also involve centre-back Keane in a possible raid on their Premier League rivals.
It is said that manager Ronald Koeman is looking to bolster his strikeforce and 25-year-old Gray is on his radar.
Wolverhampton-born Gray helped Sean Dyche’s side survive relegation during the recently concluded campaign by scoring nine goals and supplying three assists from his 32 matches.
Both Gray and Keane’s contracts at Turf Moor have one year left to run, but the duo are yet to sign new deals.
As a result, the report states that Burnley are willing to allow them to leave the club on a free transfer next summer in order to get another season out of the club’s key men.
Former Manchester United defender Keane drew plaudits for his performances at the back last season, which resulted in him earning a maiden call-up to the England squad.
Football Insider verdict:
From the two players mentioned, Keane would perhaps be the best fit for Ronald Koeman’s side because he has produced better performances. Gray scored nine goals last season and for a club like Everton, that tally isn’t good enough. By contrast, centre-back Keane was instrumental in Dyche recording a strong defence and you could see the former Manchester United man fitting in at Goodison Park. Whether Koeman is playing a back four or three at the back, Keane has proven both for his club and country, that he can fit and perform in both systems.
In the latest Everton transfer news, Ronald Koeman believes this 20-year-old needs to improve.
