German outfit RP Leipzig are set to rival Celtic in the race to sign Chelsea starlet Dominic Solanke, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims Leipzig are interested in the 19-year-old, and have placed him on their list of potential summer signings.
The report states the German club are also interested in Solanke’s City team mate, Jadon Sancho.
Solanke’s contract at Stamford Bridge is up this summer, leaving his future in doubt.
He scored two goals in five Premier League 2 appearances for Chelsea Under-23s this term.
The 19-year-old has also featured for England Under 16s, right up to the Under-21s, whom he has three caps for.
Football Insider verdict
Leipzig have been one of the biggest surprises in European football this term as they have stormed the Bundesliga and currently sit in second place. They have also secured Champions League football, like Celtic, so Solanke would be guaranteed a chance in Europe’s elite competition should he move to either club. Celtic should do all they can to sign the young star who will not only provide back-up for Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, but will arguably push for a regular starting place and could be the player they can build a team around in the future.
In other Celtic transfer news, Rangers have won the race to sign this 25-year-old ace.
