Juventus have joined the race for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to a report.
The Sun claims that the Italian giants are interested in the 26-year-old after he announced he would be leaving Arsenal after 17 years at the club this summer.
They will face competition from the Premier League, with Wolves and Crystal Palace said to be the favourites to land the former England international, with West Ham also keeping track.
Juventus are ready to offer Wilshere a £100k-a-week deal.
Football Insider verdict:
Wilshere made the decision to leave Arsenal after being told he wouldn’t be guaranteed game time under new manager Unai Emery next season. It’s not wholly unexpected but if the report about Juventus wanting him is true, it could point to a misstep from the new Arsenal manager. Wilshere is only 26 and has proved that he can stay fit, while also giving glimpses of being back to his best at times for Arsenal last season. At his best he’s brilliant. Arsenal fans will probably be hoping he takes the glamour move abroad as they won’t want to see him lining up against them next season with a point to prove. The Juventus interest does come as a shock though, especially as the Italian Giants have just snapped up Liverpool’s Emre Can on a free. Getting Wilshere and Can as free agents would represent some astute business, although Wilshere would have to question how much game time he’d get in Italy. If he wants regular football, he’s probably better off switching to a Premier League side, like Wolves or Palace.
