Leeds United have been joined by Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in the transfer hunt for Hearts’ midfield revelation Harry Cochrane, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim on their website that the Seagulls are now keen on snapping up the 16-year-old central midfielder, after the Whites made an enquiry over his signing prior to his emergence as a first team regular for the top flight Scottish side.
Having broken through the youth ranks at Hearts at such a young age, the prodigal talent has made 14 appearances for the club across both their league and cup outings, with 11 of those coming among the starting XI, and scored his first and only goal in the shock 4-0 win over Celtic earlier in the campaign.
Football Insider verdict
While Leeds might have been keen on snapping him up earlier in the season, the fact he has established himself in the senior side at Hearts will make snapping him up a much more difficult prospect. Brighton are likely to be one of many clubs who have noted his astounding rise to prominence and there will be many eyes cast over his performances for the rest of the season. Hearts will struggle to keep a hold of their young starlet if Premier League sides do come calling, and if that is the case, then Leeds will also face a fight to convince him to move to England’s second tier instead of the top flight.
